Ostia Antica, the great port of Rome, was a key place for the spread of Christianity in the Roman Empire. Here we find archaeological traces of early Christian life: secret symbols such as the fish and the chalice, houses probably used by Christians, and even representations of Christ. This video also tells the story of Minucius, Caecilius, and Octavius, showing how faith was shared through friendship, witness, and daily life. We explore the Temple of Serapis, the Forum of the Corporations, the thermopolia, the city’s theatre and we will also visit the House of the Fishes, which was most likely the home of a Christian family —places that reveal a lively and multicultural Ostia where the Gospel spread naturally.
