Saint Bridget of Sweden (1303–1373) was an extraordinary woman: mother of eight children, mystic, reformer, and religious founder. During one of the most critical periods in Church history —the Avignon Papacy— she moved to Rome and dedicated her life to praying and working for the Pope’s return to the Eternal City. In this video, we explore her life, her deep devotion to the Passion of Christ, and her boldness in exhorting even the highest authorities, including the Pope himself. We also visit the places she lived and prayed in Rome, such as San Lorenzo in Damaso and her house at Piazza Farnese, now a convent of the Bridgettine Order. In 1999, she was proclaimed Patroness of Europe, alongside Saint Catherine of Siena and Saint Edith Stein.
